A breakup with a significant other can often times take a major toll on the parties involved. There are some breakups that leave a person feeling like they may not want to live any longer. Many times, this leads to following an ex-lover around, begging for a second chance. However, a person must understand that just because a relationship has ended, their lives do not have to be over. There are ways to survive a breakup and come out of a relationship on top. There are even ways that you may win your ex back if that is what you truly want to do.
The first thing you can do to help keep your mind off things is to stay active as much as you can. This is easier said than done, due to the fact that after a breakup you may not want to do anything more than sit on your couch. However, sitting around all day in a state of self-loathing is not the way to help yourself. Stay around family and friends for their support. If you do not want to stay around others for support, occupy yourself with a hobby or something else that is constructive. Avoiding negative behavior all together is another way to help you survive a breakup. Refrain from using alcohol or other drugs as a way to avoid how you are feeling about a breakup. If you are trying to get back together with your ex, using drugs and alcohol will only hurt your chances. This is especially true if you end up doing something ridiculous as a result of drug use.
If you are trying to win your ex back, you may want to avoid a lot of contact with them. You do not want to go out of your way to see your ex. Trying to talk to an ex after the initial breakup only causes further stress and hard feelings. Keeping your distance may make your ex realize that they miss you and need you in their life. You will want to make a plan for getting a second chance with your ex. Refrain from letting your emotions rule over you. This is a great idea whether you are trying to get your ex back or not. Controlling your emotions may be one of your best bets in surviving a breakup.
